Reddit signals show up before the trend line bends
Keyword tools lag real frustration. Community signals are noisy but early — if you filter for novelty and fit.
By the time a topic hits mainstream SEO dashboards, the easy wins are gone. Subreddits and niche forums are messy early-warning systems: complaints, workarounds, and competitors praised in passing.
Why raw scraping fails
- Volume is not insight. A loud thread might be off-brand or a meme pile-on.
- Novelty without fit wastes editorial time. You need both: new angle + matches your positioning.
A practical filter
- Does this thread name a specific pain ("we lost rankings after X") not a vague grumble?
- Could your product legitimately help without stretching?
- Can you add original research, data, or a firsthand story? If not, skip or summarize in one paragraph.
Signals are inputs, not outputs. The article still has to answer a sharp question on its own.
